Lake Hosts: Looking for Volunteers

By BLIA
Friday, May 30th, 2014

Lake HostPlease consider becoming a volunteer Lake Host this summer

We are currently looking for 2 more volunteers to help us with our Lake Host program on either Saturday or Sunday mornings throughout the summer.

Living on Beaver Lake, we realize how lucky we are. Unlike many of the lakes in New Hampshire we DO NOT HAVE ANY INVASIVE PLANTS in Beaver Lake. Why, because we have been proactive in protecting our lake. We do this through the NH Lakes Association, Lake Host Program. The Lake Host Program places Paid and Volunteer staff at the Public Boat Ramp who check boats going into and coming out of Beaver Lake. We pay for this program, largely through BLIA dues (much of the money that we receive for membership is used for this program.), some funding from the Town of Derry and some grant money from NH Lakes. The grant money from NH Lakes is awarded partially based on the number of volunteers that we have participating in the program. Volunteering just 2 hours a week, not only allows for more coverage at the boat ramp, but also ensures future grants from NH Lakes.
